William Holden (Hollywood star for the youngsters) came to our council flat for tea. My Dad got on with him on the film set and took him out to pubs. The fact that my Dad was just a stagehand not an actor or director tells you a lot about William Holden.

Billy, can you remember what the film was ?

I lived in Sweden in the early 70,s and worked for Saab. I met With Stig Blomquist who was a rally driver and with me being such a gobby twat he took me for a spin in the works car off road. Needless to say i was not quite so gobby afterwards. Then he spoilt it all and signed for Toyota, i think it was. Bloody good driver though to be fair.
Through working in the motor trade back in England i also met Dicky Davies from world of sport who was a Saab man as was Ian Botham at the time because of having back problems.
Met that Amanda Lamb woman at a foreign homes exhibition thingy at the Birmingham NEC. What a horrible stuck up cow she was, or maybe she was just having a bad day, but i didn't like her anyway.

Met properly as opposed to saying 'hello, can you sign this?' -

Bette Davis and Alan Devonshire.

Not together though.

As a 3 year old I sat with Bette Davis in her dressing room during breaks in filming at MGM Borehamwood. Only a very vague impression but she was kind enough to send her chauffer off to the shops to buy sweets for me.

I sat with Alan Devonshire at the bar of the otherwise empty Hampton and Richmond Football club for the best part of an hour talking West Ham. We were opposing managers that day. Very nice friendly man but distinctly unimpressed by present day footballers and how they would stand up against Trev and Bonzo etc.

Also had a long chat with Mark Noble in West Ham Working Mens Club. Someone whose modesty, professionalism and old fashioned down to earth qualities Alan Devonshire would approve of. He asked me lots of questions about West Ham in the 70's and 80's, about specific games etc. We talked about the players who were legends and those that were not fondly remembered and that a player could get more satisfaction from being looked up to by the fans after their career was over, rather than counting a few medals. Better to be George Parris or Alvin Martin than Paul Allen or Paul Ince. Mark was only about 20 at the time which I thought reflected well on him and the way he was brought up.

Some years ago went to a party hosted by someone who happens to be the ex-wife of a well-known blues artist and is much into thespian pursuits. Apparently, the place was full of the cream of British rock music and actors. Unfortunately, I didn't have a clue who any of them were apart from Eric Clapton.

Samuel L Jackson and the little fella Warwick Davies at the Star Wars Attack of the Clones Premier.

Sam held the bog door open for me and we chatted for a second. Mainly about how busy the toilets were with people doing whizz

Now I think about it I met Prince Charles and some of the Saudi royalty at an event I hosted as part of my job about 10 years ago. I spoke to Charlie briefly who was in "oh hello, and what do you do" mode?

Ronaldinho in Vegas. Legend but didn't speak much English.

And for the UK, probably Gordon Ramsey who was actually very friendly when a few of us ate in one of his places in Chiswick.

Re: Who is the most famous person you have ever met?
The most famous two people I've actually talked to were Freddie Kanoute and Gordon Brown.

I met Kanoute quite a few times... he's still a friend of a friend. Really generous, chilled out guy. I think the fact he's so chilled out explains why he never made it to the very, very top. It's the hardcore competitors who tend to be very intense and have broken marriages/relationships etc outside sport e.g. Thierry Henry, gay Ronaldo etc that become the real superstars. Kanoute was too happy with his life and his wife etc to really be as good as he could have been, in my opinion.

Couldn't agree more. I've met loads of famous people but Lemmy stands out as a really genuine bloke. Told great stories and up for a laugh. His public image is not as big as the real man. Loved the birds too.

Re: Who is the most famous person you have ever met?
Not necessarily the most famous, but the one I miss the most is Lemmy.

Used to bump into him quite regularly at loads of London gigs before he moved to LA. Great bloke. Always happy to chat, unless there was a girl nearby that he was interested in (that's any/all of them), when as a bloke you just retreated and left him to it.

RIP Lem.
